Starcraft 2 Guide

This Starcraft 2 Guide will focus on the bare essential like that this game is a game made by Blizzard entertainment and is a military style futuristic science fictional real time strategy game, available on PC’s and Mac’s only at this point, which focuses on player to player combat and is fast paced, extremely balanced and on top of it all actually fun to play for the most part at least.

There are overall three different races available for players to play as, they are Zerg, Protoss and Terran. Each of them have a specific set of buildings, creatures or should I say units and of course storyline.

So stay focused as this is just the introduction of this Starcraft 2 Guide .

Currently the only campaign that’s playable is that of Terran, but expansions have already been announced that will give the Zerg and Protoss a campaign of their own. The fictional setting takes place sometime in the 26th century, making it a futuristic game in it’s core. The events take place at an undisclosed planet somewhere in the Milky Way. Everything happens 4 years after Starcraft: Brood War and the main protagonist this time around is James Eugene Raynor or Jim Raynor for short, who is the commander of the Terran race.

In this Starcraft 2 Guide I  will tell you about the new characters incorporated in this new installment as there are many new characters in addition to the old ones from Starcraft: Brood War. Although the first game came out more than 12 before the release of the second installment the key features have been kept the same as it’s unnecessary to change what’s already perfect. That’s not to say there aren’t any improvements, as there certainly are a few.

Some of the most important ones are the addition of a second vespene geyser as in the first Starcraft you only had one, the total amount of vespene gas to be extracted remains the same but now you have to decide if you want to focus on the more early game and build just one extractor or risk it and build & populate both of them to give you an advantage in the late game. Another thing that’s been added is high yield mineral fields that are characterized by their golden color, what they do is allow workers to gather at an alarmingly increased 40% rate. Which can give a major advantage to you, if you happen to obtain any, the total amount of resources to be extracted remain the same so they will get exhausted even faster than the normal ones.

Then there is the Xel’Naga Tower that gives “sight beyond sight” … and allows you to get a view of the surroundings once approached, which can be the difference between a victory and a loss. If you can control Towers you can easily prepare of an ambush or any other attack that’s coming to you just by seeing what the opposing force has to offer, and take the appropriate measures to counter them out of the oblivion.

Furthermore there are are the wide ramps, which are ment to control the amount of units passing by, now the original Starcraft had a pre-set width that allowed for the passage of about 2 big units, but now that’s changed and many maps have ramps that allow three times that.
