Starcraft 2 Units Zerg
In 2010 finally Blizzard has released Starcraft 2. And it was one of the best games of the year. There are many changes to the Zerg race, some say that it got more powerful and some complain that they have seriously nerfed it. If you continue on reading below you will learn about the Starcraft 2 Units Zerg and what kind of changes happened to them all these years.
Drone (worker)
They are literally the building blocks of your base. This race sacrifices their workers for their buildings so you have to create new ones after each building is created. The main difference between all the workers from different races is that they can burrow. This means that if there’s any immediate danger and you don’t have any support to protect them you can go underground, hopefully your opponent doesn’t have any detectors in range.

Overlord
Overlords are versatile creatures their main role is to control the units, by having the supply limit. In early game you can use them like scouts though they are really slow, so it might be better if you use a drone. There are two upgrades for this unit, the speed and the transport ability. You can transport up to 8 small units. Oh yeah this is a non combat unit.

Queen
The queens have significantly changed after the Brood Wars. They became grounded and developed ground and air combat skills as well. They can burrow like any ground unit. The main role of the Queen is spawning new larva for the Hatchery / Lair / Hive. Another skill what she has is spawning creep tumor, which means that you can expand the creep with out building additional structures. This eliminated the need of hive colonies. And her last skill is called Transfusion which regenerates 125 HP to any bio unit or building.
.
Zergling (speedling)
Those cute doggies with razor sharp claws and teeth. They are weak alone but if there are a couple of legions then they can take out entire bases really fast. There are two upgrades for this unit the Andrenal Glands which increase their attack speed by 20%, and the second one is the Metabolic Boost which increase their speed and that’s why people call them speedlings. Zerglings work great in a team but be aware of splash because with one shot you can lose multiple units.

Baneling
The Banelings the close explosive cousins of the zerglings. By mutating the zerglings you get banelings. Which are slow but deal a lot of damage to buildings and have splash damage. These are slow moving creatures and they usually roll. One of the best way to annihilate a full army is by burrowing a number of banelings and louring the enemy into the killing field. You should hear the screams of the enemy when you unleash these death balls. Banelings are a perfect counter for zerglings.

Hydralisk
The Hydralisks were one of the favorite units in the Brood War, sadly you won’t be able to create masses of these because the price is pretty big and also it costs 2 supply to create one. These are excellent killing machines against ground and air units as well. The opponent will need a whole lot of fire power to take out a legion or two of hydras. They are powerful but it takes a lot of resources to create a legion so most of the times it’s a luxury unit.
.
.
Overseer
The Overseers are the more evolved cousins of the Overlords. Another non-com zerg unit. They are also detectors which helps you find and kill cloaked units. For being a non-com it can do 2 diferrent types of damage. First it can contaminate any building which for 30 seconds it will stop unit production or upgrade research. They can spawn changelings which will mimic the first enemy race’s foot soldiers (zergling, zealot, marine). Pretty cool stuff

Roach
The roaches one the most dreaded zerg units. They are cheap to produce they can heal really fast underground and they can do a lot of damage. Not many units can stand up in a 1v1 combat situation. There are 2 upgrades for this unit, one is the glial reconstruction which increases their movement speed and the second one is Tunneling Claws which means that they can move below ground while burrowed and their healing power increases drastically. I would feel really sorry for the opponent when he comes over a legion of roaches with out any form of detection he would be a goner.
.
Mutalisk
The Mutalisks are the zerg’s main air force, they can strike against ground and air units as well. Their projectile is called a Glave Wurm which bounces between 3 targets, each time losing some of it’s power. The mutalisks can dominate really easily in early game because most gamers don’t put up any air defenses. They are a scary sight to see in the skies, the only way to beat them is by putting up some impressive air defense. Compared to the Brood Wards they lost their ability to evolve into Brood Lords.
.
.
Ultralisk
The Ultralisks are the most powerful forces of the Zerg, they can deal massive damage to structures and armored units as well. They are like living battering rams. The best way to fight them is a really powerful air force or some good micro and ranged units. The only significant difference between the new Ultralisks and the ones in Brood Was is that they can burrow. If you can anticipate where your opponent would park his siege tanks then you could hide right under him just waiting for the best time to strike.

Shokz Starcraft 2 Guide Review
Corruptor
The Corruptor is another feared unit by the protoss and the terrans, because they can unleash an acid spray which increases the damage taken by 200% for 30 seconds. This can cripple and decimate armies in an instant. The only good news is that it can only directly attack air units. Most of the times there are close to the hive so in the battlefield they are rare.

Infestor
Infestors can also move underground so they are effective in cloak and dagger operations. They can’t directly attack any units but they have some neat tricks in their arsenal. Like launching Neural Parasites this will grant you control over a unit for 15 seconds, meantime you won’t be able to do anything. And one of the deadliest moves ever is the Fungal Growth. Which causes 36 damage over 8 seconds. At first it immobilizes the enemy then it makes them hurt. You can use this unit to harm huge number of units. And it can also create infested terrans as well.
.
Infested Terran
The infested terran is created by the infestor. It has the ability to heal him self and it can burrow. Also it has ranged attack.

Brood Lord
The Brood Lords are excellent air to ground units. The deal a good amount of damage and they use live projectile. This means that these worms attack the target until they are either killed or expire. This unit is highly sensitive to air attacks, matter of fact it can’t defend it self from air assaults. They are great fighters but they need a lot of support if you want to use them over and over again.

Nydus Worm
The Nydus Worm is one of the most sneakiest unit of them all. It can teleport units from one end of the map to another in seconds. It’s a great way to infiltrate your opponent’s base if it’s heavily fortified. You can start cleaning from the inside out.
Well this about sums it up. It’s a long article about Starcraft 2 Units Zerg, I hope you have found what you were looking for. The Zerg changed no doubt about it now everything comes down to you how you wield them. Sure it’s easy to complain but how about getting a hold of a great guide and dominate the realm with them.
