If you’re like me you have probably fallen in love with the Zerg really fast. They are so cute and you have to practice gang warfare to be the best, and this is fine by me. There are some significant changes since the Broodwars you got some nice new units and a couple of great addition and also there were some nerfings as well. All those who are new to SC and want to get acquainted with the Zerg here’s a short bio about the race.

They are the only full bio race in the game, you can create units via larvas. There’s always a choice to make, on what do you want to improve on: your economy or your army. There workers are actually morphing into building so you lose a drone for each building. This means that you have to have a constant supply of drones. There’s a huge biggie with this race, they don’t really have effective defensive buildings so they are open for attacks in early game. This causes you to make troops first and workers second to fend of any enemy attacks. If the Zerg player engages in a rush most of the time it’s a do or die mission because if he fails it’s pretty much GG. I told you it was short

Zerg Strategy Starcraft 2 Strenghts
The queens ability to spawn more larva is a godsend if you are in the need of troops really fast. A great strength for this race is that they can produce at least 4 different units at one time. They can build way faster than the other races which means that they can respond to any attacks or provocations rapidly. Because of the cheap units they can mass armies quite fast and they are usually the first on the battlefield. Another huge strength is the creep, if they are on it then they can move faster, so it’s a great strategic advantage if you can build the creep highway straight into your opponent’s doorstep. Even if your first wave fails you can get another attack relatively fast.
Zerg Strategy Starcraft 2 Weaknesses
One of their main disadvantages is that they don’t have any good defensive buildings which means early one they have to invest into armies so teching up remains for later. To beat a good player you have to create more bases than he can, because you need a lot of larvas to build up you army and of course if you want the luxury units like the Mutas you will need a lot of resources.
They lack the specialized units so they can’t counter as effectively like the other units which means the more the merrier. Another big vulnerability is against air units, if your opponent is going for this build you are most likely screwed the only way to deal with this treat is by good scouting. If you see that build coming then you have to get a second queen or a spore colony.
My biggest pain is when I compare the Hydras with Broodwars and SC2, now they cost a lot more money and the supply has increased as well. So no more huge hydra armies
